Can we install 11.1.0.7 on Windows 2003 Server using the 2008 cd?
or is there a patch for it I dont see?
I believe you can upgrade 11.1.0.6 to 11.1.0.7 with patch 6890831.
I did read in docs (when I originally posted) the note about avoiding the client intended for Windows 2008 when installing on Windows 2003. So unless something has changed with that download and/or the instructions, I would probably opt to upgrade.
Let us know what you go with.
we have tried to install 11.1.0.7 client for window 2008, onto windown 2003 servers. we have quite a few need to upgrade. some went successful, some failed.
what makes it went successful? I was expecting it to fail..
what you believe who asked you to believe. I believe in the stupidity of oracle to allow that which would jeopardize the growth
thanks, it took some locating to find the 6890831 patchset file. there’s also patch 8553515 on top of it (patchset bundle 13). 14 is due out soon.
Reading doc 161549.1 says patch bundle 14 due in June so I might wait for that one. Bundle notes are in 560295.1.

I have a stmt from Oracle on Windows7:
Oracle Database releases “9iR2 (9.2.0.x), 10gR1 (10.1.0.x), 10gR2 (10.2.0.x) and 11gR1 (11.1.0.x)” are not Certified/Supported to install/run on Microsoft Windows 7.
“Microsoft Windows 7” certification will begin with “Oracle Database 11gR2 (11.2.0.x)”. That means, Oracle Database 11gR2 will be the first Oracle Database product certified/supported to install/run on “Microsoft Windows 7”.
By the way, Windows7/11gR2 is due to be out before July 2010.
is wimdows 7 can run on a dual boot system
The 11gR2 is now available.

It is supposed to work on Windows 7, and Win 2008 server.
Is Oracle 9i not for Windows-7 ?
Why Oracle 9i is not installing in win 7 ?
Due to some programs are not supporting to win 7.
So that it stop the instalation at end time.Apears as dos mode.

Hi,
Is oracle client 11gr2 32-bit can be installed on window 20008 r2 64 bit platform ? i manage to install 64-bit oracle client 11gr2 on window 2008 r2 but failed on 32-bit client 11gr2 (hang at prepare copy file stage). any clue ? thanks.
regards
goh
On unix, Oracle doesn’t support 32bit client for 11gR2, you have to install the 32bit instant client into a new /lib32 dir in your 64bit client.
For your error I’d check your log, look at what is in the 64bit log just after where the 32bit log freezes.
Have you tried a silent install instead?
I have oracle 10g license and i want to use oracle 11g client
can i do that..?
I’m not sure of the official support statement from Oracle on that, but I use an 11g client with both 10g and 11g databases and it works just fine, Akhil.
You need to check with your company about your licensing. Chances are if you have 10g, you also have 11g.
Hi there,
Is it possible to install Oracle 11gR2 32bit on Win2008 R2 64bit server?
Tks.
I can connect to my oracle db 11.2 on a win2008 64bit server. But from a client not. I get a timeout. checked firewall and it’s disabled. Any other thing what is new on a windows 2008 ? guess has to do with win2008
thanks

Hello,
Which client of the oracle i should use for the Oracle 11g XE database.
please reply if you can help.
Any ideas why on one of my win 2003 servers I cannot run the oui.exe (or setup.exe) for the 11.1.0.6 client? I just keep getting:
“The Java RunTime Environment was not found at \bin\javaw.exe. Hence the oracle universal installer can not be run”
I dont have any other client in my Path
I dont have JRE_LOCATION set
I tried adding -jreLoc c:\program files\javasoft\JRE\1.3.1_07 but that just gave me “could not find main class” errors
this database was not properly installed in window 8.
